Applications

The BlueStar PLUS Prestained Protein Ladder is designed for monitoring protein separation during SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, verification of Western transfer efficiency on membranes (PVDF, nylon, or nitrocellulose) and for approximating the size of proteins.

 

Contents
Approximately 0.1~0.4 mg/ml of each protein in the buffer (20 mM Tris-phosphate, pH 7.5 at 25°C), 2 % SDS, 10 mM Dithiothreitol, 3.6 M Urea, and 15 % (v/v) Glycerol).
 

Quality Control
Under suggested conditions, BlueStar PLUS Prestained Protein Ladder resolves 13 major bands in polyacrylamide gel with appropriate buffers and after Western blotting to nitrocellulose membrane.

 

Storage
Stable for up to 2 weeks at 25°C. Stable for up to 3 months at 4°C. For long term storage, store at -20°C.

 

Loading
3 μl or 5 μl per loading for clear visualization during electrophoresis on 15-well or 10-well mini-gel, respectively.

1.5~2.5 μl per well for general Western transferring. Apply more for thicker (> 1.5 mm) or larger gel.

Description

The BlueStar Prestained Protein Ladder is a three color protein standard with 10 prestained proteins covering a wide range molecular weights from 10 to 180 kDa.
The Prestained Protein Ladder is designed for monitoring protein separation during SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, verification of Western transfer efficiency on membranes (PVDF, nylon, or nitrocellulose) and for approximate sizing of proteins. 

The ladder is supplied in gel loading buffer and is ready to use. Do not heat, dilute, add reducing agent before loading.

Applications

• Monitoring of protein migration during SDS-polyacrylamide gel
  electrophoresis.
• Monitoring of protein transfer onto membranes during Western
  blotting.
• Sizing of proteins on SDS-polyacrylamide gels and Western blots.

Quality Control

Tested in SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and Western blotting. 

Storage Buffer

20 mM Disodium hydrogen phosphate pH 8.0 (at 25°C ), 2 % SDS,
0.2% Triton X-100,10 mM 2-Mercaptoethanol, 6 M Urea and 27%
(v/v) Glycerol.

Storage

Store at -20°C for 12 months.
Stable at +4°C for 3 months.

Recommendations for Loading

1.Thaw the ladder either at room temperature or at 37-40°C for a few
   minutes to dissolve precipitated solids. Do not boil.
2.Mix thoroughly, to ensure that the solution is homogeneous.
3.Load the following volumes of the ladder on SDS-polyacrylamide gel:
   - 5 μl per well for mini-gels, 3 μl per well for blots;
   - 10 μl per well for large gels, 6 μl per well for blots

PiNK Prestained Protein Marker, Cat. No. MWP02 Size:  2 x 500 

  • Broad range: 15 - 175 kDa.

  • Easy to identify: Includes the 40, and 90 kDa reference bands coupled with a blue dye.
  • Sharp bands

 

 

Description

The PiNK Prestained Protein Ladder contains 10 proteins that resolve
into sharp, tight bands in the range of 15-175 kDa. The PiNK Prestained
Protein Ladder allows you to monitor molecular weight separation
during electrophoresis, estimate molecular weights of proteins of interest,
and evaluate western transfer efficiency.

• Monitoring of protein migration during SDS-polyacrylamide gel
  electrophoresis.
• Monitoring of protein transfer onto membranes during Western
  blotting.
• Sizing of proteins on SDS-polyacrylamide gels and Western blots.

53 mM Tris-phosphate pH 7.5 (at 25°C ), 2.7 % SDS, 2 mM
2-Mercaptoethanol, 3.6 M Urea, and 23 % (v/v) Glycerol.
(Approximately 0.1~0.2 mg/ml of each protein in the buffer)

Storage

Store at -20°C for 12 months
Stable at +4°C for 3 months

JustBlue Protein Marker, Cat. No. MWP05 Size:  1 x 500

The JustBlue Protein Marker is a reasonable priced alternative to the BlueStar Marker. Eleven proteins are coupled with a blue chromophor. 3-5 µl per loading for clear visualization during electrophoresis on 10-15 well gels. We recommand 2-3 µl per well for Western Transfer. 
Two  reference  bands (25 and 72 kDA) are  enhanced  in  intensity when separated on SDS-PAGE. Stable for up to 3 months at 4°C, long term storage at -20°C.
