Details

The FastGene® Slim combines fluorescence and white LED illumination in one ultra-slim, portable device. Blue/Green View technology operates at a selected wavelength of 495 nm, enabling efficient excitation of numerous compatible fluorescent DNA/RNA dyes. It is also suitable for selected fluorescent stains and fluorescent proteins.

The included amber filter shield filters the LED light and provides a clear view of fluorescent bands. DNA bands can be excised directly from the gel, for example with a gel band cutter (e.g., FastGene® Agarose Gel Band Cutter).

The second side of the device features white LED illumination. It is suitable for colorimetric gels, Coomassie-stained protein gels, and colony plates.

At only 15.6 mm high and approximately 935 g, the transilluminator is easy to transport and use at different workstations.

Targeted Excitation at 495 nm

While high-end systems such as the FastGene FAS-X use a broad light spectrum of 470–520 nm, the FastGene® Slim operates at a single wavelength of 495 nm. This compact illumination concept combines versatile gel visualization with low weight and excellent portability.
